I am looking at a antique stove to enjoy and keep the house warm. I would also like it to serve as a supplemental heat source if the furnace went out (like it did 2 years ago at Christmas) until we got it fixed. Location is Pinedale Wyo, very cold here in the winter. House is tight, but has some glass. Area to be heated is approx 1,700 sq feet or 17,000 cu ft due to high ceilings. We burn mostly wood but can get coal.
What is a good heavy duty, nice looking but not over the top, maybe with the mica glass stove that might work. Or am I looking at this incorrectly and should buy a wood burner soapstone from Woodstock or another modern stove?
